Ruby Hill Urban Rail Yard

The Ruby Hill Urban Rail Yard is a FREE ski and snowboard terrain park. The great thing about this, is that it’s not in one of the many nearby ski resorts, it is actually in the City of Denver! Located just off of W. Florida Avenue and Platte River Dr. in Southwest Denver, this is a fabulous park and pool in the summer and an urban winter playground all winter!
The terrain park begins it’s third year in operation starting on Saturday January 17th, and runs through the end of February. Everyday from sunrise to 9pm, riders can take on six rails, of varying degrees of difficulty and challenge. New this year is a “bunny” hill for beginners and lessons available if needed. Artificial snowmaking equipment will be used to create enough snow for the facility. So, no matter what Mother Nature tosses our way, there will be 2-3 feet of snow covering the 1+ acre site.
On opening day there will be demonstrations from the Burton and Winter Park snowboard teams, equipment manufacturer demos, and free burritos from Wahoo’s Fish Tacos. Through the rest of the “season,” Christy Sports will operate a ski and snowboard rental shop out of the Ruby Hill pool house on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Rental equipment will be available for children and provided FREE of charge while supplies last!
