Spring skiing should be in full swing this week as mountain resorts have received up to a foot and a half of snow over the past 24 hours.

In Steamboat Springs, the ski resort broke a record for seasonal snowfall.  With 470 inches (and counting) of snow this season, they have easily eclipsed the previous seasonal record of 447.5 inches.  The average snowfall at the Steamboat Resort is 334 inches!  For those who are mathematically challenged, that is almost 40 feet of snow this year!  My back is aching just thinking about it.

All the other Resorts have experienced similar great snowfall, and the powder should be deep until the time the resorts must close down for the season.  Unfortunately, this year the snow will probably outlive the season.

Steamboat and it’s record snowfall (18 inches in the last 2 days) will close in 1 week!  April 6th is the last day for ripping, shredding, swooshing, falling for the 2008 season.  Vail & Winter Park both close up shop on the 13th of April, while Breckenridge turns off the lights on April 20th.  The snow will still be great, so expect the crowds to be large at Breck that last weekend!

It is rumored that a few of the resorts may try and squeeze another week of revenue out of the season, but no announcements yet.  Seasonal Labor and Forest Service regulations dictate when the resorts close down.

Spring skiing is one of the GREAT benefits of living in Colorado!  Temps on great days can be in the 50’s with powder above your boots, what else could a guy want?

Often unpaid loans like the payday loans turn into a giant bad credit loan in the long run.

I am a Realtor up here in Steamboat Springs, and Bob is right. We have so much snow we’ll see it until July. Come on up and ski on the best conditions EVER, then take a truckload or two back down to Denver so we can see some grass!
PS–Our real estate market is like the snow–last year was an all-time record year for real estate, just like this year is a record year for snowfall.

But it was actually more like 20 by the time they opened the mountain. They are closing portions of it due to lack of employees – work visa expiration. It is still dumping too! Hard! I took about 4 runs before I had to get back in to my slave quarters. Thick and heavy and fun. Came out of my skis 3x at least, including some spectacular over the tips somersaults! Was very bummed to not be able to get on the gondola this am though. Had to ride the bus like a commoner. They already shut down arrowhead and bach gulch too. Shame considering how much freakin snow they got up there.
